What the work has added up to
We would rather show a few numbers we can stand behind than many we cannot. Here is what is documented so far, and how we plan to report from here.
Documented results
- Yoga Angels begins teaching yoga to children. Classes later reach schools in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Unified school districts.
- 1997
- Jamaican juvenile centers where WAM has run: South Camp, Rio Cobre and Metcalfe Street.
- 3
- Teachers trained and certified through WAM at the Rio Cobre center in Spanish Town, 2017 to 2018.
- 11
- WAM continued at Rio Cobre, funded by the Foundation itself, until 2020.
- 2020
Change that keeps going
A single yoga class is good. A trained teacher who keeps leading classes in the same building, years after we have gone, is better. That is the result we care about most, and it is why WAM trained people inside the centers where it ran.
The questions we ask of every program are simple:
- How many people took part, and how often?
- How many local teachers did we train and certify?
- Is the practice still happening after the program ends?
- What do participants and staff say has changed?
Reports and records
We are gathering participation records and feedback from earlier programs. As each piece is confirmed, it will be added here and to our transparency page, along with annual reports as they are published.
Funders and partners who need program documentation can request it from admin@yogaangels.org.
Put a mat, a teacher and a steady practice where they are missing.
Your gift pays for classes, teacher training scholarships and the materials that let our programs keep going after we leave. We are a small organization, so every donation is felt.
